Entomologist - Ecologist - Data & Bioinformatic Scientist

About

Hi! I’m Dr. Grégoire Noël, a post-doc currently working at the University of Florida in the Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at Ben Baiser laboratory. Go Gators! ^^

In short, my scientific work is dedicated to the insect biodiversity. I am working on the impact of the landscape disturbances on the insect communities and their resources in temperate and tropical ecosystems. I also lead several project of insect numerization and data management of insect biodiversity. I am also involved in diverse teaching activities in academics. You can find more about my current and past research projects in the research part of my website.

My research stance

In an increasingly interconnected scientific world, my research approach is firmly grounded in hyper-collaboration and interdisciplinary co-construction. I strongly believe that contemporary ecological and agroecological challenges can only be addressed through close synergies between ecologists, entomologists, agronomists, modelers, as well as field practitioners, land managers, and public decision-makers. Throughout my scientific career, this vision has led me to build and coordinate ambitious research networks in which the circulation of ideas, expertise, and data which is considered a major driver of scientific innovation.

At the same time, I am strongly committed to contemporary Open Science practices and systematically adopt FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) when leading studies and managing the dissemination of data and analytical tools. My datasets, analytical scripts, and methodological resources are consistently shared through open platforms such as GitHub, following principles of transparency, reproducibility, and knowledge sharing. I believe that science progresses more rapidly when resources are openly accessible and reusable, and I actively promote these practices within both national and international collaborations. This approach not only enhances the dissemination of my work, but also strengthens the long-term impact and sustainability of the scientific outputs produced.
